Hi all, Managed to get a bit going with a ogv video as a full background. Having a few problems so wonder if anyone can help: Firstly the site is a work in progress, so my only concerns are with the bg video (p.s sorry it is a 5mb file so may take a minute or so) http://www.backyardzoo.tv/farleysremains/index.html CSS is here: http://www.backyardzoo.tv/farleysremains/css/bz.css (sorry it's a bit of a mess) Lovely don't you think. P.S As far as I know the video only loads in Chrome, no idea why. My questions are: 1) How do I get the video to FILL the background (for eg, 100% width AND height) on a tall browser the video simply fits the width, even though I've specified 100% with both 2) Compatability with other browsers (I'm going to have an image fallback, but may also need a .flv and mp4 for FF, IE etc. 3) FILE SIZE! I know this is a 1 minute loop but I've seen other sites do this and their video is about 1MB- any ideas for getting great quality low file size ogv, mp4 flv videos? I think that's about all. The site isn't done otherwise, but I'd be glad to hear your thoughts on where its going so far! Thanks in advance.

Just come across something I've never noticed before, can anyone confirm? A site I have just built looks different in Google Chrome for PC and Mac. I run a MAC at home and a PC at the office. They are, as far as I know- the latest versions. Are there differences between the browsers on Mac and PC? The offending page is at www.surveyors-negligence-claims.co.uk, and click the 'Start your claim now' button which brings up a lightbox iframe. Any ideas why this might be? On the broken browsers Chrome/Safari for MAC - the blue 'footer' appears at the top, however this is not present on Chrome/Safari for PC Any clues? Thanks

Many thanks for this. I'll check it out. At present the site is working in everything except IE6- as it features alot of pngs. One final thing. If you load this site http://bit.ly/k6VMn5 in IE7- there are some ugly borders around the featured property images, in blue and purple if selected - and the form on the right is not adhering to the set CSS and spills out of its container (see the same site in Chrome or another browser for ref. Does IE7 have a different way of using CSS to style form inputs? Thanks again,

Fixed. It was a non-closed <span>! Checked and fixed in IE7 (Ie6 still lacks png support obviously) Is there a plug-in to utilise pngs in IE6? Thanks

Hi everyone, I a relatively new web developer and designer - I have been working on a few sites lately- semi-developing within IETester. Most of my sites work fine down to IE7. I'm having a major problem with one (probably the biggest one I've worked on) The home page is badly damaged on IE7 and I can't for the life of me fix it. It appears to be a floating/clearing issue and I have tried all the debuggers/ie7.js plug-ins to no avail. It runs off a Joomla platform, so it's possible the issue(s) lies within an include file. Link here: http://bit.ly/k6VMn5 Works fine on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, IE9, IE8 (apart from the rounded corners) but IE7 and 6 are horrific (I don't particularly care about IE6, I will most likely put a conditional comment in there to entice an upgrade. Any thoughts would be tremendously helpful and I am happy to provide more details if needed. It's a shame because I think this is a lovely site- but a fair few of our hits come from IE7. Thanks everyone. The dark design is something to consider if people are expecting light and airy. It does change the entire site concept however, so I'll have to see what I can do. Hoping to get ourselves out there at places like the Fringe etc so it has to be clear what the site is and why people are there. Hi everyone, First post here- have recently finished and started promoting a new comedy site. It's a collection of videos, blogs and other misc stuff. I would really appreciate everyone's thoughts and opinions in terms of the look and feel of the site. How easy is it to navigate? Is it immediately obvious what this site is for?
