  1. Cheers guys, fixed it. I put everything in the CSS and zeroed everything out on the td and th of the nested table in the CSS. Amazing how simple things can take forever to figure out sometimes... .smallchart td, th{ border-width: 0px; border-style: none; }
  2. Hi, thanks for the reply. When I do this it makes the borders have the old style "3D" look, is there a way to just have a solid 1px border without it affecting the nested tables?
  3. Hi there, I expect this is a silly problem but I cant seem to find a solution. I have nested tables within a larger table as it seemed the easiest way to display the data. The problem is in FF and IE there is a big lack border around them, presumably inherited from the parent tables CSS. http://www.specialisttapes.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=500_12_20 See the black borders around the measurements? I do not want them there. Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks! I did away with the menu as it was more trouble than it was worth, it was only supposed to be temporary anyway. Note to self: remember to check browser compatibility. Cheers!
  5. Hi, I'm new to web design and this is probably somthing simple but i've been searching everywhere for a solution. My Site As you can see there is a large space at the bottom of the page where the background extends past the main content. I have been searching for ages for a fix. It must be such a simple error to fix... any ideas? Thanks guys. ps. this was my first website so the codeing needs ALOT of cleaning up, i am on it .
  6. Thanks for the advice, I'll bear it all in mind whilst i go though the website and build on it. Thanks got that sorted Amazingly all these small changes have put my website back in google, by no means is it high for any of my key terms but atleast it comes up for terms like "paper tigers". At least it shows all this SEO and content adding does have an impact. Looks like i need to try and get quality back links now...
  7. Thanks for the advice, I fixed the dead links and the title. Website grader is a good little tool, thanks, I came up 43% on there and yet I'm still nowhere to be seen on google... Hopefully all these little improvements will help.
  8. cheers, i've been trying to do as much SEO as possible. I cant believe that the website doesn't come in anything below the top 300 results in google for any key words though, I must be being penalised for something or is this common? The website has been up since last summer and more and more content has slowly been added.
  9. Xml sitemap and robots.txt now created, i'm with google webmasters and there doesn't seem to be a problem there. My website doesn't come up even if I type in "paper tigers promotional" which are my top key words, it wont show in the top 100 for ANYTHING except "papertigers.co.uk" where it comes first. There must be a reason for this. Thanks
  10. Thanks alot, really helpful, I've tried to fix most of the errors, I cant understand the source of the remaining errors in the html and the errors in the css are due to IE fixes I think. I have put all my CSS into one doc. Do errors negatively effect your positioning in search engines? Is there anything else I can do? Also any idea on the gap at the top? or any general improvements. Cheers
  11. Hi, One of my websites: My website does not show up on google unless I type in its actual address (papertigers.co.uk) into google. I have it in google analytics and webmaster tools. Both say no problem. I have tried to do as much SEO as possible, different meta tags, descriptions and page names. But still it seems almost impossible to get it to come up. Any advice would be appreciated. Also welcome to advice on improvement of the site, I am new to web development so it is only basic but i am eager to learn. And if anyone knows why there is a gap (annoying orange bar) at the top in firefox, or why the main content is out of place in IE I would be most grateful. Cheers, James
