Hi all! I'm Oli, and I had a careers convention today and one of the career stands that really interested me was Web Design. One of the companies stalls - Submarine Web development Guernsey took my fancy. I had quite a good chat with the bloke on the stall, and he gave me some useful advice for things to research at home. Basically I'm quite young (14) and I'm interested in web design as a career. I do have my own website, but it's a bit rubbish compared to some websites as I used a website builder (Weebly) to make it. The guy on the stall told me to look at two different websites (www.smashingmagazine.com and www.bestwebgallery.com) for inspiration. I'm inspired, but I have absolutely no clue on how to set about making a new website He was using a Mac, same as me, and building websites on Photoshop. (I've been spending a bit of time designing art on Pixelmator) I actually didn't know you could design sites on Photoshop, but he suggested that I buy Photoshop Elements and spend some time on that. He told me I was definitely the most 'technologically advanced person' he'd seen that day however So my question is, can you give me any advice on how to start a career in Web Design? Thanks, Oli
