  1. Hey Thanks for your feedback. Glad you think it's a good idea - do you think people may be put off because their idea could be stolen? Appreciate that you like the colours - you're one of a few! lol
  2. Hello I just released a new website aimed at designers. The idea is to aid the creative process but submitting unfinished work for critism, to obtain guidance along the way. I'm having some trouble actually get people to use the website, and I'm not sure why. Is it hard to use? Is it a boring concept? Don't people "get it"? The site can be viewed here: http://www.creativefeedback.co.uk/ I'd like your thoughts. I know the colours are too dark, I'll probably address it at some point but I want some users first. Thanks
  3. Don't even get me started on this industries absolute abundance or morons offering "web services", then deploying age-old technologies to do the job. The amount of times I've seen sites designed using tables, nasty CMS's and framesets is truly frightening. This DIY approach to web design is something that I actually lose sleep over through anger. More often than not, I am outbidded on web projects because the client is only concerned with cost. I then view the site they had built a month or two down the line, only to learn they outsourced it to somebody who doesn't know what CSS is, still uses Dreamweaver's design view (clearly) and hasn't taken into account usability, accessibility, SEO or any other crucial design principals. I run a blog on the side where I rant continuously about this type of stuff, give it a read.
  4. Strict is a little bit... elitist, on many occasions. I'm not entirely in agreement with what it enforces. For example, you cannot open a link using target="_blank" when using a strict doctype. I would never attempt to force a big site to use strict simply because it would literally be more hassle than it's worth. I would expect to see ANY site designed by a professional validate to transitional though (that is unless the client has got their grubby little hands all over it).
