  1. Thanks again, been googling for days to see if there was a one line fix but I'll use your suggestion. I think there's only around 50 files to list so no big deal. Cheers!
  2. Hey thanks so much for offering help. As the whole site has changed, can I do something similar to your suggestion but on a site wide scale, rather than an individual file basis?
  3. I just changed to drupal from a regular html design and now have google webmaster warnings that my pages aren't working. The pages in the old site all ended with .html and drupal doesn't use extensions so what was example.com/file1.html is now example.com/file1 I've played around with htaccess but can't get a desired result - do I need a redirect for this situation?
  4. My PR was updated this week! I went from 1 to 2 and while this is at the lower end of the scale I am absolutely chuffed to bits. I was over the moon when I went from 0 to 1, now I know all my efforts are having an impact I could do a silly dance
  5. Thanks again, I was actually thinking about asking someone from a different part of the country to try the search, I'm glad you suggested that! The competitor, according to that site you mentioned, last had an update Jan 2008 so I'll try my hardest from now on to oust them from the top. I can asnswer yes to the 3 questions you've asked about my site so I'm chuffed to bits. Am reading all the threads about increasing PR now as I can see that is something that needs some more concentration from me. Thanks once again for your input.
  6. Thanks for that... I didn't know my PR until your post and researched it to be 1 with 31 backlinks so not that great as I've been reading all about it. The competitor has a 2PR and 106 backlinks, better than us then. I can see now how important PR is and will work on that from now. Acheiving position 2 in google (1 in Yahoo) I assume my SEO attempts are working well though! I guess I need to know if buying the 3 word phrase as a domain is going to harm my hard work so far or not. Any thoughts?
  7. Hi, I'm proud that for a complete newbie I've managed to get our fairly new .co.uk website on page 1 of google.co.uk, usually in position 2, of my targeted keyword phrase. Our domain name is completely unrelated to the business (the owners name to be precise), and not even English, but we kind of have a niche market and his name is well respected and known in the demographic we specialise in. As many people search for this 3 word phrase, we have concentrated our efforts totally on that, and it is working, but I'm after that elusive number 1 position. The company that holds the position (in my opinion) has an inferior site to us, but it is more established. The 3 word phrase I've noticed is available as a domain name so I figured it makes sense for us to utilise it. What I need to know is whether it would harm what we have achieved already if I just set up a 301 redirect from the new domain to our established web site? Obviously I'm hoping that owning the very phrase people search for is going to help our site - unless I've understood all the research I keep reading?
