  1. Thanks Zig .. good point on the fonts. Im cleaning up the site using the (I must admit) very helpfull comments Ive got so far. Only which Id joined this forum sooner
  2. Thanks for the feedback. The templates were just pages I knocked up to pad out the site, based on some templates Id seen, as I dont have a portfolio as yet. Most of my coding to date has been within a team of developers in a bank... Anyway Im removing that for now and just going to add some 'dummy' clients with wording stating these are samples of what I can do etc..... Cheers for the feedback!
  3. Not harsh at all. Exactly the feedback I need to be honest. As you know you can get too close to working on a site and sometimes miss the obvious!! Good points that Ill work on... Appreciate the feedback matey. Thanks
  4. Sounds likea good plan. Ive spent hours doing my site just bit by bit...think planning is more important once I get off the ground .....
  5. Daft question but do you mean you design the site/page layout in photoshop (and clip the sections you need) to produce a single gif as Ive read about?? Ive not done that as I just code using html via aspx using visual studio 2008 and just code the page that way?
  6. Thanx .. hello to you too
  7. Thanx....looks like a nice place ere...
  8. Ive got CS3 but just learning Its enough to get by with..for images .. fireworks etc ..i just add the images in my css to be honest. more planning needed I think
  9. Thanks .. nice to be abord
  10. Cheers mate .. added you as a friend.. got some basic photoshop skills but i build using vs 2008 and just add as I go to be honest.just love coding!!
  11. Thats fantastic.. Thanks swiped (I didnt check my css was valid to be honest!!! Use it all the time so good CSS its second nature ... will add those links ..) Liked the 'selling server space' comments - never thought of that!. I was trying to aim it to a company wanting a site developed but dont have examples of what I could do (as the templates I looked at seemed pretty simple and I was in a rush to be honest) I didnt know how to 'sell' my services .. think Ill build my own examples (dont want to use templates as want to be individual when building my own stuff).. Will look at the book you mentioned ....... appreciate the comments ... Thanks 100% All the best
  12. Thanks Scott .. like the 'Jack' sig
  13. divs for layout .. tables for tabular data ... nuff said
  14. Hi Swiped. Thanks for the response. Its still a work in progress but any pointers or changes you feel I can make would be appreciated .. if you ave the time (Im new to building sites from scratch .. the ones on portfolio are templates Ive just tooled around with as I dont have any clients as yet).. Appreciate the feedback. Thanks
  15. Cheers SLG.....Will make the changes (nice to have a 'fresh pair of eyes' look ot the site!) as your probably right (me trying photoshop for the first time and getting carried away ) Any comments gratefully accepted!! Thanks again..
