  1. Thanks guys, very good points all. As I'm not too familiar with the fashion industry and how it works behind the scenes, I wasn't sure about the point of these pages. But I see now that it's more likely to attract stockists and store buyers rather than impress potential customers. That said, I still wasn't too happy about having downloadable PDF's: in my experience, unless there's vital info in there that people really need, most users don't bother. I much prefer the idea of extracting relevant quotes or reviews and featuring them directly on the site for people to read instantly. Anyway, I can now go back to my client and suggest this: here's hoping she won't stick to the "I want PDF's because everybody else has PDF's" line Once again, many thanks for your advice.
  2. I'm designing a website for a young new fashion designer. If you look at similar sites, most of them have a page where any Press attention the designer has received can be seen, whether as reviews or features, quotes, or downloadable PDF's of pages from fashion mags... What I'm trying to find out is, if any of this is any use? When I asked my client why she wants this page, she could only say "because everyone else has one"! Does anybody know, or if not, where I can find any actual research that says, who actually reads or downloads from these pages? I'd like some solid evidence to determine whether or not this section of the website is even needed: I personally have my doubts, but I need proof one way or the other before my client and I move forward with this. Is the point of these pages just to show that the designer has received some Press attention, regardless of whether anyone actually reads it or not? Is it only valuable from this marketing perspective, just to give confidence to buyers or journalists, or do people actually bother to read it all? If so, who are they: potential customers, other fashion journalists, or both? Anybody come across anything similar? All suggestions welcome... Many thanks!
