  1. Hi Guys A friend is helping me validate my page and got down to the last error which we can't solve. Any thoughts would be really appreciated. Line 43, Column 316: document type does not allow element "a" here; missing one of "object", "span", "bdo", "applet", "iframe", "tt", "i", "b", "u", "s", "strike", "big", "small", "font", "em", "strong", "dfn", "code", "q", "samp", "kbd", "var", "cite", "abbr", "acronym", "sub", "sup", "label", "ins", "del" start-tag Line 43 Code: <!-- Facebook Badge START --><a href="http://www.facebook.com/abintus"'>http://www.facebook.com/abintus" title="Peter Dunphy" target="_TOP" style="font-family: "lucida grande",tahoma,verdana,arial,sans-serif; font-size: 11px; font-variant: normal; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; color: #3B5998; text-decoration: none;"/>Peter Dunphy</a><br/><a href="http://www.facebook.com/abintus" title="Peter Dunphy" target="_TOP"/><img src="http://badge.facebook.com/badge/585745310.4691.274417441.png" width="120" height="136" alt="alt" style="border: 0px;" /><br/><a href="http://www.facebook.com/facebook-widgets/" title="Make your own badge!" target="_TOP" style="font-family: "lucida grande",tahoma,verdana,arial,sans-serif; font-size: 11px; font-variant: normal; font-style: normal; font-weight: normal; color: #3B5998; text-decoration: none;"/>Create Your Badge<!-- Facebook Badge END --> So far we've been advised that the 'first anchor tag appears to be both self-closed and used with a closing tag. Double-check that and choose just one way.' As an example of how to do this, we've been given: <a href="somewhere.htm">I'm a link</a> <a href="uselesslink.htm" /> And this: Also this Code: font-family: "lucida grande" should be this Code: font-family: 'lucida grande' Again, any tips whatsoever would be really appreciated. Warm regards Peter
  2. As per the W3 validation info, the solution for the link seems to be at http://www.w3.org/QA/2005/04/php-session but am struggling to get my head round it.
  3. Hi Josh Thanks for replying - nope I never received your MSN - that's Mac Messenger playing up again! 1&1 provided a link to the form as an alternative (below). It's a clickable link. Once clicked, the visitor is taken to a brand new page, which has only the contact form on it. Hopefully this could be used as opposed to having a full contact form actually placed on my contact page? Here is the code for the current link: <a href=" http://abintusvideos.com/tinc?key=QAxDEvTm&formname=Send_message_to_abintus_videos "> Send Message To Abintus Videos </a> The link can be seen already on the page at: www.abintusvideos.com/copy_of_contact.html If it's possible to validate this link it would be brilliant - as it stands there are 3 errors and 3 warnings, all connected to the link. If it's impossible to use this link method, I can leave the contact form out so that the page can validate. All the best Peter
  4. Thanks Wickham, and Henry14 - that's magic!
  5. Hi Henry Thanks so much for your valuable feedback and assistance. I'm a bog-basic amateur so I'm struggling a little to understand "all what is needed is to extract additional styles (floats) to css and add additional margins or paddings". Is there an example on the internet you could link to that could show me how I might be able to do this please? Sorry for being a complete novice! Thanks again for your kind help. Peter
  6. Hi Guys I'm trying to validate a form so it can be included on my contact page. Having done some Googling I've noticed Multi-Purpose pages mentioned in connection with IFrame forms, but not sure if this is applicable to me. The source code for the IFrame form was generated by a 'form builder' via the website host. The link is www.abintusvideos.com/copy_of_contact.html The page validated perfectly prior to introducing the form. Should I maybe change the format of the Dreamweaver page to something other than xhtml to help the form validate? All suggestions would be really appreciated. Warm regards Peter
  7. No joy with adjusting a height rule unfortunately - any other ideas please? In Firefox the text keeps showing for me as a line too long for the top box. In Dreamweaver CS4 Live View and in Safari the text is much too short for the top box. Opera seems to show it okay, with the text nicely snug in the box, although there's an indent at the top middle of around 50 pixels for some reason?!
  8. Okay will give the height whirl a whirl - thanks for posting
  9. Hi Guys For http://www.abintusvideos.com/weddings.html The first box Div (the long top one in the middle that is a background to the text) I created appears as too long in Safari, and too short in Firefox. Is there any tweak I could do to my CSS or xhtml to fix it please? As it stands the text runs on past the end of the box, or end the box runs on with blank space when the text has ended. All suggestions would be really appreciated, Peter
  10. Can delete this thread mods please Have started a new thread entitled "Any tips on how to validate an IFrame from on a xhtml page? "
  11. Josh you're a legend! Thanks so much!
  12. Josh kindly validated most of the site for me - I've reduced the images to gif files using Photoshop CS4's 'save for web' feature, which is brilliant.
  13. The CSS boxes I created on the wedding page seem a little funky - appears different lengths in different browsers, and foe some reason my logo on the top right of the contact us page has been disappearing in different browsers! lol
  14. Wow thanks! It looks how it should, albeit without images and CSS boxes. I was about to return to the Services page and re-create black CSS boxes as background for the details of the services, and use CSS to create white, centre-aligned paragraph lettering in the black boxes. I hope by doing that it won't screw things up again! Just uploaded the latest version of site including your kind validation (1.20am)- have updated the weddings details page. Will pm you
