July 10, 200818 yr Hi there, I am currently making a website for a book shop, now unfortunatly after much stressing from that the flash site they wanted creating would not rate highly within search engines they still decided that wanted to go ahead with the idea (obvioulsy i pitched the page turn effect too much), now my question is...is there any reason why i could build a HTML site that sits underneath the flash object inbetween the <embed> tags. Would the search engines be able to crawl through this? Thanks

Would the search engines be able to crawl through this? Thanks I am not completely sure on the status or time frame but Google and Yahoo have joined up with Adobe to improve the SEO of all flash. It may be worth having a look around the forum, I believe there were a couple of posts relating to this.
July 10, 200818 yr Also if you're using actionscript3 you can get extra meta content in there now, which is always a plus. Traditionally what SEO companies have always done in the past with flash sites it either build a non-flash site duplicate which is linked in from the footer, search engines couldnt grab any content from the flash version so there was no duplicate content to worry about, and they would happily index the static pages. Another thing that you can do is bosh some stuff into <noframes> or <noscript> type scenarios, but that gets a little bit shifty if you aren't careful with it.
