Hi - am I the only newbie that cannot post?

Hi there,

I'm a new member. not sure if I'm being impatient, but it says "You Cannot start a new topic" when I try in the website review area.
I searched in the forums for this error, but could not find any advice.
I thought this problem might be because I need to review someone else's website first, but when I try that it says "This topic is locked" on all the ones I've tried to comment.
But it does let me post here! Maybe this post will fix the problem?
It might be worth a sticky to warn people if this is the problem....!

Just received an answer from admin:

Thank you for you message.

To cut back spam/people posting links we normally ask for members to post 25 posts which gives them 'accreditation' as a genuine member and then they're able to post a link and ask for a review.

Hope that helps.

25 posts!! That seems to be encouraging spam to me!

It seems an unusually high threshold - I would have thought it would be worth having a sticky to warn people, and probably remind people of this policy when the signup.

Shame - it seemed like a good idea - I'd even started looking at one of the websites so I could review it.

Well you can say it encourages interaction between forum members and keeps the board active and busy.

When you go to less regualted forums you see a ton of useless threads, obvious spam and web promotion and a ton of links.

WDF doesn't look like that, so the admins probably know what they are doing.

I there. I joined WDF on 3 feb, but only now had time to surf a bit around the forum. This topic helped me understand one rule i didn't catch while reading Forum Guide Lines and Introduction Rules Topics. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have it there.

I'm excited to start using the forum. I confess it's not something I normally do....

Cheers!
