November 15, 201411 yr Hi everyone, Im looking to create a dating website. On a limited budget and with limited knowledge. I have created gaming clan related websites in the past along along with forums, one of which is still running. But Ive hardly done anything since 2008, I am a beginer with some experience, keen to learn. I am also a semi retired psychological therapist and will be creating a couple of my own sites for doing private therapy and also my own "brand new" type of therapy. I want to completely own the websites and pay for a freelance designer that can help with the dating website. So I have loads of frustrating times ahead and loads of questions to ask you guys. Look forward to making some new online friends here in the process Neal Joseph.
November 16, 201411 yr Hi Neal, welcome to the forum. Be prepared to pump a lot of money into marketing your dating site, as the market is incredibly fierce and competitive. Is it focussed on a particular niche?
November 16, 201411 yr Author Hi Neal, welcome to the forum. Be prepared to pump a lot of money into marketing your dating site, as the market is incredibly fierce and competitive. Is it focussed on a particular niche? Hi Paul, totally agree with you: the online dating market is saturated with the "routine" websites and yes I do have a specific niche. Im pretty confident on the marketing of it, have ideas. So hoping not to be pumping loads of cash into that. Its the construction and technical I will struggle with. And I suppose legal stuff. Thanks for the comments Paul Im perhaps overly anxious? that if it does take off I will be shafted with hosting and copyright technicalities....huge bills! Another reason why Im here is to start off correctly. That anxiety (yes Im a therapist lol) is encouraging me to keep it as independant as possible, away from a web construction firm at the moment. I have contacted some for quotes and advice. In the past I have used a template and tweaked it to my needs and learned a lot in the process. So that earlier link from Robby was a good option for me to consider.

Another reason why Im here is to start off correctly. That anxiety (yes Im a qualified therapist lol) is encouraging me to keep it as independant as possible, away from a web construction firm at the moment. I have contacted some for quotes and advice. November 29, 201411 yr Author Thanks Robby those links are useful, agree about the dating market it is flooded. On the face of it entering that market is a bad idea and expensive, unless approached from a new angle. Its not my intention to do the same routine, that would undoubtedly fail. Im also creating my own type of psychological therapy, Im hoping if my ideas are bizarre and unique, marketing them may be easier. Ive may also be selling a story to the press soon regarding my personal and professional life. That may prove useful for marketing too Life isnt dull lol, well its not been for me. May as well try to profit from the stress.
