Good Responsive Gallery?

Recommended Posts

HI, I am doing some work for a clients Wordpress site. The main website is responsive, but the gallery isn't. Can anyone recommend any good (and free) responsive wordpress galleries?

Regards

Rich

It makes more sense to me to make the current gallery responsive, rather than finding a specific plugin that might include this already.

If you've already got a gallery up and running, and can provide a link, I'll take a look to see how easy it would be to convert.

Do you have access to the CSS and HTML to edit? Or is it hidden inside the plugin somewhere?

The HTML and CSS used is a massive overkill for a simple boxed grid. I could put something together, but the old markup and styles would need to be removed.

Jack: I believe I can get to it. But isn't there any easier way? A plug in that someone recommends?

Jane: Reg the Easy Fancy Box, it does not appear to be responsive:

"The lightbox does not look good on mobile devices. What can I do about that?

The FancyBox 1.3.4 script that is used in this plugin was not developed with mobile devices in mind. The only way around this issue is currently to disable FancyBox for small screen sizes. You can do this by adding a text widget in your sidebar with the following code snippet."

It seems you are right. I really thought that it was responsive but I just tried it on one of my sites and it isn't. Bother!

Sorry about that.

I can't find the fancybox script anywhere in the source code. It looks to me like it's just using an old version, fancybox2 is responsive. Regarding the thumbnails, they just need a bit of re-working with CSS to make them fluid width.

I'm not that familiar with Wordpress, however, I'm sure a gallery plugin isn't really needed here, and it might be easier just writing yourself.

You're looking to upload an image, output a smaller image onto a page, style into a grid with CSS, and add fancybox that links to a larger version of the image.

Something like http://simple-fields.com/documentation/field-types/file/ would be something I would use to upload the image, and grab the data I need for my templates. In the documentation it says that it crops automatically to small, medium and large images, and gives you access to the file paths, alt descriptions, width's and height's in your templates. Perfect!

You can then use those file paths to add into an image tag, and just style with CSS.

Fancybox is just an additional script you will need to add, but the docs have some really clear examples on creating galleries. It's as simple as adding a class in most cases.

Personally, I'd use ACF gallery plugin. Loop the images into thumbnails. Then use Magnific light box which will work responsively.

This is a perfect example of the issues with backend plugins being used for frontend stuff. Use the AFC gallery plugin then write all the other stuff in the frontend yourself, feel free to use some jQuery lightbox plugin on the frontend if you don't fancy writing the js by hand.

      Hi,
I'm looking to create a website that can show a preview of a personalised book. On this site a user should be able to enter their name and choose a character with different hair colours, skin colours and then hit 'preview'. This opens up a flipbook with just these variables replaced. Please see a great example here: Click HERE for website with customization page
I know that templates exist for things like flipbooks (personally i use Wordpress as a novice, so a wordpress plugin would be useful), but how would this customized feature be created? For example, would i use a PDF, convert to a flipbook, and then layer (css?) the name, character on top with HTML5 code? Are there any existing templates that do this already or simpler alternatives?
      Thanks

Hi Guys, looking for a bit of advice if possible?
I am doing a car sales website in WordPress. It will be fairly basic, you'll be able to search for new and used cars based on the users criteria and it returns a list or cars, you click through to see the details page with all the jazzy information. Fairly simple.
However, it needs to have the following functionality on each detail page...

"The ability to store finance information so a customer can choose from different options for eg: how many payments up front, how many months term and how many miles a year from drop down boxes and it will pull a payment example from the behind the scenes of the info we have entered."
Any ideas on the best solution? I am toying with the idea of doing something non wordpress specific but wondered if anyone else has dealt with this kind of thing before in wordpress?
Thanks for any input in advance, I owe you guys a tea/coffee/beer

Morning all. I was hoping for a bit of help. So I added the following to the Additional CSS field, in my wordpress theme.

      .site-header { position: fixed; top: 0; width: 100%; z-index: 2000; } .container { padding-top: 120px; }
And it worked, the header is now finally fixed. But the problem I have now is that even though it's fixed on every page, it overlaps everything at the top of each page. Is there a way for it to not do that, or will I like have to make sure there is enough clear space on each page I add?

      Hello there,
I am currently working on a Wordpress Website.
      https://nationalexecutivechauffeurs.co.uk/
If you scroll down the homepage you will see a display of cars. I have added these using the single image widget. I also have titles for these cars, but you cannot see these as the text is white instead of black. I am really struggling to change the colour to black, does anyone have any advice?
      Thank you

      Hello,
Can you give me a feedback? I designed a responsive one-page business  template with Elementor Pro. Elementor is a page builder.
      Please be honest. Link: http://themelab.cloudaccess.host/
I want to boost my portfolio.
      Thanks
