Transfer of domain, whilst avoiding email disruption

Featured Replies

Hi there,

(Sorry shouldn't of put 'Transfer' in the title!)

I have a client, who has their domain registered with Namesco, with their hosting pointing towards another company called 'Toolkit'

They now want their domain to point to 1and1 hosting....

However, they also use an external company that manages their e-mail server.

I have been advised by 1and1 to make changes to the DNS Records, by using CNAME, which I have a dropdown option for, BUT I'm a little concerned I might enter the informaiton into the wrong box and disturb their emails (They need their emails to be woking at all times!!)

Attached is a screen shot of the fields I need to replace, please could someone help me with which ones to touch and what I need to replace it with, and which ones to leave well alone!?!?

I have a techical domain that 1and1 have told me to put in as the CNAME, looks like this - CNAME s111111111.mydomain.co.uk (Hopefully that'll help)

Many Thanks,

K :)

Hi rallport,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it's just the website I need to point to a new hosting company.

The email services for the domain need to stay pointing to the e-mail company's server.

It's important that I don't amend these by mistake, so that the client doesn't suffer any downtime on their emails!

Many thanks
