I've got a site already which google is picking up already. I have seen that creating a sitemap gives you more chance of getting picked up by google if linked in with google webmaster tools.

 

If i do create a sitemap with only the webpages that google isn't already picking up, will it cause problems or lower rankings for pages it is already picking up and i have not added to the sitemap?

If you are getting good result with your current site without a sitemap then it is good, no need to use sitemap if your site is very small..

 

Sitemap is mainly needed by big sites where thousands of posts and pages are there.
