This probably sounds like a stupid question but I'm trying to find something that I can use to build some simple user forms. I'm not after anything too complicated, and the forms should be easy to update again in the future.

 

These forms are basically to replace existing forms that were created many years ago and have caused nothing but issues - and nobody had the time to dedicate to put it right. Ideally, it would be something that would capture information from Active Directory easily and hold probably about 10 fields (at the most) for a user to fill in for themselves.

 

Upon submitting the form, an e-mail would go off to a mailbox that is monitored so that the request could be actioned.

 

To me it doesn't sound too complicated, but the only things that I seem to be able to find have one drawback - i.e. it costs money. Is there anything out there that's easy to pick up and free to use?

 

Any help / guidance would be gratefully appreciated.

what sort of site are you looking to put these on?

 

If you are using Wordpress then there are such plugins as Gravity Forms (paid plugin though) this is easy to use and work with in my experience.

 

If the site is using a different CMS or has been built bespoke then you may have to look at creating the form with simple input fields that you or the owner can change later on

Its an Umbraco site - I've just had a look at the Gravity forms and that seems to be along the lines of what I'm looking for but I just thought there may be a free stripped down alternative, i.e. no support.

 

Seems it wasn't such an 'obviously you do it this way you idiot' kind of question though which is reassuring... :-)
