Hey guys, I haven't been here for a while but I'm finally back to get a little feedback on my latest website. So first I would just like to say go ahead and say what you want, I prefer straight forward honest feedback, however I am only 14, and I would like constructive criticism to help me move forward in the webdesign industry, so if your feedback isn't positive or constructive, I don't really want to hear it. Anyway here goes:

This is a website I designed for a mate (also 14) who started his own Apple accessory business and has actually gotten very far and is doing well. It is 6 pages (Home, About, Services, Live Stream, Contact and Policies) + the store, however he created that himself on Tictail, an eCommerce system thing.

It's a nice looking site and all. There are quite a few things I would pick up on. First off would be to open up your layout a bit more and add some additional space between elements as the front page is bordering a cramped feel. Otherwise it works well. I know you didn't design it but the Tictail section is an issue in terms of UX. While the shop side of it is well presented, the navigation is quite frustrating as I repeatedly had to click the back button to return to the main menu. There are a few other things, but in general, it's a good start.

From my first look, I have know idea what your site is about. DO you sell phones or covers for phones? Are you selling them or designing them?

 

Your homepage seems to be three "slow loading" JPGS.

 

I downloaded one of them 7X.png which is a whopping 333KB at least 300% larger than it should be.

• you have a tag <class="cushycms"> that I believe should be <div class="cushycms">

• Inside your footer_container div you have incorrectly nested the <h4> and <center> tags

• Not sure if I am looking at it incorrectly but you do not appear to have included </div> tags to close your footer and footer_container divs

 

In terms of the design, it is pretty.

 

I had no issues establishing what the website was about at first glance but if Nine9Design has raised this as a possible issue then I would certainly address it in some way.

There is some good stuff there. I agree with 4li4s, the store's navigation is frustrating. I think if you're going to use the store as is you will need to incorporate its UI into the rest of the site, i.e. same typography, colour scheme, layout and navigation pattern. It just doesn't make much sense in context. I also had a difficult time discerning the point of the site until I got to the store.

Woah thanks for all the feedback I completely forgot to check. I agree with what you have said, but sadly I have no control over the store or its design. And I realised it actually never says anything about selling cases (we sell cases rather than iPhones), but the owner of the company decided that the website would really only be for the current customer base who know what the company is about, mainly from social media/blogs etc.

 

MG thanks for your feedback, but the <class="cushycms"> is the Cushy Content Management System code that they told me to copy/paste so I just went with it - but would it be more correct to do <div class....> ?
