Dexter Season Finale

Featured Replies

Hey dudes,

[Contains spoilers about Dexter's final episode, if you hadn't gathered!]

So I know there are one or two Dexter fans on here, hopefully they'll find their way here.

Thoughts on the final episode of the final season? Overall I think it was a let down and a bizarre mixture of shocking and appalling. Dexter essentially contradicted his own words from the back-end of season 2 when he contemplated turning himself in as the BHB, but couldn't do it knowing how many people depend on him. Even though Deb passed away, who originally reminded him how important he is to some people, I really think he should've stuck to this philosophy, even more so that he had a blood-relative in the picture now, being Harrison, when Deb wasn't.

Are we supposed to take comfort in knowing that Dexter in actuality faked his death and is still alive? How can we when he appeared miserable, lost and empty inside in the final scene? How can we be happy he's alive when he abandoned the last two people he had good reason for staying alive (at least in their lives) for?

It was disappointing to me - there were so many other potential alternate endings that would have wrapped everything up neatly and actually made sense. I'm annoyed, ha. Thoughts, Dexter fans/ex-fans?
