Best language to use for Zoom in/out using mouse scroller (i.e Google API)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I have recently joined the forum to see if anyone here can help with my questions relating to a project that I am working on.

Has anyone visited the www.milliondollarhomepage.com before?

Well my idea evolves round this. Unfortunately i cannot give out too much information about my idea, however, I am looking to see if my 'problem' below can be solved before I continue with this.

Basically, when the user logs on to the webpage what they see is a basic blue/green map structure (no country/city/place names), so very basic. Then I would like the user to zoom in (like google maps API - Zooming using the mouse scroller) and as they zoom in, the map becomes more structured and the user begins to see little pixels (like lots of 'square' borders), until the user eventually zoom's to its maximum where they can choose a pixel (panning as they go along). Once chosen this will bring up a profile page of the individuals pixel (the profile page will appear on the same webpage and darkening the background of the main webpage.

I have been looking at HTML5 and CSS3 and Javascript, but i was wondering what the best program to use to achieve a Zoom in/out, panning, and also if the pixels are best to be used as tables, DIV's, or images (in conjunction for a profile page to work).

I hope this kinda makes sense.

Thanks for your help.
