Hi guys,

I'm new here and I have a small question. I'm looking to build a website that would have the following characteristics:

 

- it will be a quiz website

- users will use usernames and passwords to login

- questions from the quiz will be randomly selected from a database with questions

- there will be a countdown timer for every question. if no answer selected, you will automatically go to the next question

- users get points for answering correctly to their questions and there will be a ranking page that everyone will be able to see

 

 

I'm thinking about 3000 monthly unique visitors and 10 000 questions to start with.

 

 

I have the idea, now i need to learn the programming language and get it going.

 

 

What should i use? flash, javascript, php...?

 

and how much will it cost me to get this website online?

There is no best solution, just the one you are most comfortable with. If you don't know any languages and want something that will give you a really good, versatile platform to jump off from I would recommend Python.

 

If you just want to chuck up an MVP then PHP has got to be the language of choice. Would take a few days at most to learn enough PHP to get this working.

That's for the quick reply. I also want to make it safe and reliable and somehow use PayPal for gold membership or something like that. Would this work alleight with php?
