Sorry if this is in the wrong place, however I have a question about the use of Cookies and compliance.

 

I build most of my sites using WP, so apart from the general cookies, for example (including a wordpress_test_cookie):

• PHPSESSID
  
• wordpress_logged_in_44f4de7aa23168fa38f17d2e9ac7c0e6
  

 

I also have one for a plugin:

• wpfilebase
  

 

These all expire at the end of the session, so my question is - 'What action do I have to take' I am aware a page about cookies may not suffice, I am not logging any personal data (the logged in one above is only after members sign in obviously) other than that I think these are simply tracking cookies on visitor useage.

there is a new rule made by the.... lovley... yes, let say lovley folks at the EU that require by law a website to ask permission prior to settings cookies period, with the exception of E-Commerce websites where the action of pressing add to cart is concidered enough permission.

 

the best way is to turn off cookies for non logged in users, when they login you just mention you have to place a cookie on their browser for this to work....

not all the time, yes you cant just give it out to everyone... but people who are interacting with your website in some situations don't... like buying things online....

thats cus this is the most stupid law ever and they know it! this one was made by people with no understanding of how the technologie works. only that "hacking", "malware", "spyware" are all bad things that cookies are involved with... somehow... maybe? in reality this is Microsofts fault for not securing there platform and allowing there products to live with known security bugs for fecking ages!

 

end result is a market full of slow, insecure and dangrous products mixed with a very low general user understanding which is a massive invite for govermental regulation to keep the uneducated population calm to win votes....

 

It's because of the above im a code nazi, imagine if steve jobs knew how to program... thats how annoying i can be, it's so important that people take put on the whitehat mentality and a little pride of their craft, a concepts thats dieing slowly... in the end.. blackhat activity in what ever field will only stunt growth and give us more laws like the EU's stupid cookie law...
