In terms of layout, this is a good start. But it's rough around the edges.

 

Your features box has a grey background, but although this is intended to make them standout, it makes the page look cluttered. Remove the grey, make the text black. Give each feature far greater padding and white space - this creates emphasis.

 

All of the text by the video is a shambles. It's all aligned weird, with so many font sizes going on. The video doesn't line up with the headlines either, and the text underneath should go.

 

Your CTAs are OK. They do need work but right now there's more pressing issues.

 

Your slider - why so narrow? Use the full width of the page. Also, ditch that nasty brown border. You don't need a border here.

 

The newsletter section is also jumbley and messy. Tidy it up, sort out the alignment. Give the input fields more padding - this makes them easier to fill in.

 

The testimonials section is fine

 

So all in all, it's not a bad start, and if you can tidy it up a bit it should be good. IT's all about keeping it clean, tidy, correctly aligned, and removing unnecessary elements.

I'm not sure how to best tell people that the top section of features come with the standard/free version of the plugin and the second set of features (labelled 'Premium features') comes with the premium version of the plugin. Any thoughts on that?

We have links to reviews and quotes from food bloggers near the bottom of the page. We want to tell people about the features before backing it up with the positive feedback.

 

I think the page is a bit messy - I haven't found a good way to present the short descriptions for each feature, with a screenshot of that feature. Plus I would like to add more text per feature. Our plugin does a lot more than other plugins (and we do some things correctly that other plugins do wrongly), but to explain it all would require too much text - any ideas? I would like to add a series of short, embedded videos on the page to demonstrate/explain each of the main features (http://www.mailchimp.com does this very well).

 

http://www.getmecook...d-blogger-ebook uses the same format but is cleaner because we don't need to convey as much information. No reviews on this page yet because the ebook isn't released yet.

I have just used http://typecast.com to play around with Open Sans (http://www.google.com/webfonts/specimen/Open+Sans#charset) and I like it so may use that.

 

I would really like to use a font with OpenType properties though, so we can display fractions using the font (a lot of recipes have fractions in measurements).

 

Can you suggest a nice OpenType compatable font?

I've tried Open Sans, but I think our current font (Verdana, serif) looks clearer. I don't like the looped 'g' on Open Sans.
