February 12, 201214 yr i am a university student, my major is graphic design(computer) and i want to be a web designer in the future. is this paper good for me? topics covered include : " 1 Protocols and standards supporting internet applications design and security issues. 2 Installation and operation of a web server. 3 Client-side and server-side programming with practical work in javascript and PHP. 4 Database connectivity. " and should i learn something about web application development? for example, html\CSS\JAVASCRIPT\AJAX\JSON\XML etc. i am interested in design good look web page, but i am not sure whether the skills above are good for me. if they are not necessary, i will spend time on what i really like, for example, 3D modeling and other things. any suggestion will be appreciated, thanks.
February 14, 201214 yr Installation and operation of a web server. almost useless knowledge unless you want to Host websites or work for a design firm that hosts sites. you can follow tutorials to setup a personal server. I would also only learn the basics of flash If even bother. Spend more time learning about security in the server-side language of your choose and less time on security on the board scale. I say this because you said you want to be a designer not a developer thats my 2 cents but other may disagree with me.
