Safari, Dreamweaver and background colour

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My site, www.Andysweb.net is displaying fine in IE and Firefox but in Safari it has no background around the container div tag. It is just white?

The site is designed in Dreamweaver CS3 btw.

Does any one have any ideas?

Thank you.

Andy

Hi Andy,

My first comment is that you are using tables for the layout of your website, you should really be using CSS and semantic HTML tags.

Could you set the following in your CSS and let me know if it fixes the issue:

html, body { margin: 0; padding: 0; }

Hi, yes you are entirely correct. I don't know why I am using tables.

I tried your solution but no joy. I also I expanded the size of the container Div so that at least it has not jagged edges..

need to put my thinking cap on!

FIXED!1 :)

Hi, I have just dome some more research and it appears that is is the way Safari handles margins. It appears not to take the colour of the div tag and use it for the margin!

So taking this I added a back ground colour to the HTML css :)

Thank you again for your advice.. you got the old noggin working!!

:)
