Hey there,

I'm about to start working on a small web application, but with little experience in PHP/MYSQL I'm curious as to how I would start.

This is what I'm going for: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/items

Essentially, there are a list of products and the more options that are selected, the more specific the results are. I do however want to use radio buttons (or drop down menus) as well as the checklist selections(as seen in the above website). I would also like to implement ajax in the way the products are continuously updated without refreshing the page.

Any tutorials + tips would be greatly appreciated :)

Big thanks in advance :)

Web scraping projects like this are seldom small or simple for that matter but the basic principles are to be found in several tutorials across the Internet thanks to Google.

Nearly all webmasters loathe harvesters with a passion and sometimes even getting the raw data is a challenge in itself if they have defences in place. There's no point in going into details as this would spoil the joy of learning for yourself. Anyhow with a bit of luck you can get your hands on the information, after that comes the challenge of extracting what you want using regex commands.
