August 25, 201115 yr Does anyone know how to do this? I imagine I need some kind of server side script that the link would hook into. I'd like to be able to place a button on pages, allowing users to save that page as a PDF. Tried a couple of cloud solutions but they were either naff or didn't work.
August 25, 201115 yr Generally this is done via an online service, that processes the page for you rather than your own site doing it http://labnol.blogspot.com/2007/06/add-as-pdf-button-to-your-websites-and.html http://pdf-ace.com/save-as-pdf-button.html are a couple of examples of this
August 25, 201115 yr I use LivedocX for PDF generation. I wouldn't do it on the fly every time though, I would just write the PDF locally every time the page is updated.
August 26, 201115 yr Author Hmm, this looks tricky. It would have to be on the fly, the idea for this is that customers could download a PDF copy of a quote request.
August 26, 201115 yr If it needs to be dynamic why dont you create a proper quote pdf using something like fpdf? I cant say I have used it personally but I can imagine it's not going to be all that pretty to write as I think you'll have to position each element as you go but would give a better corporate image than just saving the webpage
August 26, 201115 yr Author Nope, that won't work, that script isn't for turning HTML into PDF. I found this though: http://www.htmldoc.org/
August 26, 201115 yr Sorry I was assuming that you're quote was being held in a form or something similar which you could pass through as variables to the php page that creates the pdf. Glad you found something else that you can use though
