Differences Between Studio8 And Cs3

Featured Replies

Hey All

I'm doing a bit of teaching at Napier Uni - getting a group of students to build a website for their degree show that showcases their work and at the moment we're just at the design stage, but next week we'll be plunging head oon into Dreamweaver and dealing with xhtml+css. My only worry at the moment is that I use Studio8 and the Uni has CS3 installed.

Are there any major differences between the versions I should be aware of?

I'm going to be getting them to handcode the xhtml and css [i don't know any different and so couldn't teach them any other way] so I doubt there is going to be a problem. But is there anything different with regards to setting up a site in DW or does DW do anything different in version CS3 with regards to handcoding?

My other hurdle is that I will have to work on a Mac and so that's another problem, as I'm a purely PC girl. We're also having to do all the design in Photoshop which is a nightmare as it's nothing like Fireworks, which is what I use. So no doubt when it comes to doing all the exporting of graphics, I will be pposting on this forum to ask how to do all of that. does photoshop use slices like fireworks for instance?

Hi Eskymo

The other half upgraded us to CS recently, Leopard didn't run with our old suite.

I've noticed little difficulty in getting around - only used Pshop and Flash Media encoder so far. All seems similar but better.

No help in realtion to Dweaver...

But I'd guess you'll be fine.

i know - working on a mac was doing my head in last week, as not only was I totally unfamiliar with photoshop I was also finding the transition from pc to mac a little weird. Luckily the bunch of students I have are great.

just remember it's apple - c / v / x etc and not control - c.

and the files are all accessed by the finder.

i changed over to mac from home a few years back, was windows before and it' quickly becomes second nature.

Well by the end of the 7 weeks, I think I'll understand photoshop a lot better than I ever have!
