upload multiple images

Hi

I have a problem and I have looked every were I can to solve it hopefully some one here can help or point me in the right direction. I want a client to be able to upload multiple images in one go under a single username and have the image uploaded into a folder on there hosting site but also the path (url to the image on the hosting platform) imported into a mysqle database table. Ideally each image url would be in a separate field but in the same table. Ideally also the up loader would be java based rather than php because I think java is better at handling multiple file uploads?? I have a good understanding of php and mysql but mostly us Dreamweaver but can hand code a little. If any body could point me in the right direction or software I could buy and incorporate it to the web site it would truly be appreciated.
