hey, i have put a video player on my site but is there a way to track how many people r actually clicking to watch the video? any suggestions would be a great help

Actually there is, just depending on how you inserted the video. You've asked a very general question so I'll past by you some scenarios.

 

If it's a video from your Youtube account (assuming you have a Youtube account), then you can see the statistics when you login to Youtube.

 

If it's a player you created with flash, then you can can insert some AS2 or AS3 code that will out to a counter using server-side code such as PHP or ASP.net

 

Now lets say you used a regular windows/quicktime player... an idea I can suggest is, put the player on its own page and set a page counter... this will show that if a users elects to go to this page, the logic is that they went there to watch the video. Though this doesn't guarantee that so numbers wouldn't be 100% reliable.
