March 25, 200818 yr Hi all, Im hoping someone has came across this problem before. I am doing buttons form my site in elements but when I put it into frontpage the background of the image is black, sometimes white!? (I only want the circle) What I do- open new doc., set background to transparent, draw the button on checkered background, flatten/merge image, save 4 web, png24(transparent). Have followed a few tutorials with no joy
March 25, 200818 yr How interesting, the image is actually transparent to me if I view it directly, but it has a black background on the form post above. I'm not sure what I can suggest if it isn't working on your site. Have you tried saving it again?
March 25, 200818 yr This is usually a Browser rendering issue, Firefox allows and will usually display transparrent .PNG's Explorer wont, usually in the best scenario Transparent .GIF's may be more appropriate for you, may I ask why you need transparent images for your button? edit.. and more importantly why are you using Frontpage as your website design tool? Frontpage is a really bad tool in lots of designers eyes...
March 25, 200818 yr Author Hi Robb, I have saved the image to png24 a good few times with different settings, inserted them in frontpage but they all have white or black backgrounds. Have just inserted the image as giff, it works but the quality is jagged edged, not as smooth as the png ....I know Im probably trying to run before I can walk but im only wanting a circle button to link to other pages, thought it would be simple enough but no, its a bloomin pain Hi, Pontypete, I want everything around the circle to be the same as my webpage(which has a gradient) and it seems the only way to do it is to make the canvas transparent. Yes, I could make the buttons simple(square/rectangle) but I think the circular buttons would be better...... Got frontpage in a software package years ago(never used it) and am not sure what other software is best.......if im being honest I cant afford expensive packages, do you know if there are any free software packages???(if only) Im very new to this webdesigning caper (only doing this to get my business online), so any advice will be greatly appreciated Cheers

I think the best idea is not to have rounded buttons (if they are circular as your example) I would go for more of an Rectangular button with Oval edges with their own definative gradient, PNG's arent so good for website design unless you REALLY know the in's and out's.
