Does anyone know if there's any code/feed available which would allow me to retrieve the details of the car when searching by registration number plates?

 

I've got the client who'd like to type in the registration number on his website and to get info about the car.

 

Any ideas if there's something like this availabe to the developers?

 

I know that Ebay uses similar thing so I guess there must be something out there.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

my company has a VRM checker it tells you lots about a vehicle, is that what your after?? stuff like the engine number etc

HPI might offer something: http://www.hpi.co.uk/tradeweb/trade_contacts.jsp They're the people behind the stolen vehicle checks and such. Alternatively Parkers ( www.parkers.co.uk ) offer a text message checking service that uses number plates, so presumably they can access the data - They might be able to offer you an API.

 

I'd imagine that such services aren't going to be free, or probably even cheap, though.

I think we pay 15p per vehicle search
