March 21, 201115 yr Hi, I'm about to make a website for an electrician, is there someone who can help give me with some inspriation for a web design. Thanks!
March 21, 201115 yr Inspiration isn't shown, it's a personal perception, it can only be found. I could link you to the multitude of inspiration galleries out there but a quick Google of "website inspiration" will show you more than I could be bothered to link. Not to mention, all those websites are tailored to their specific needs. ~evu.
March 29, 201115 yr Web design overlaps graphic design in the graphics and overall appearance (layout) and flow of the site/pages, but web design also includes all the technical aspects of creating a website, such as the coding past basic layout.
March 31, 201115 yr Get these books: http://www.amazon.com/Web-Designers-Idea-Book-Ultimate/dp/1600610641/ref=pd_sim_b_1 and http://www.amazon.com/Web-Designers-Idea-Book-Vol/dp/160061972X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1301536634&sr=8-1 It's pretty much a book of website screenshots organized by layout, site type, site element, etc. I keep them on my desk at work (or home if I have a big freelance project), you never know when you will need them. Otherwise, I'll parrot everyone else: Browse the internet. I'd recommend that every designer keep a folder where they bookmark any site they like the design of. The whole site doesn't have to be perfect, but you sometimes find a website that uses gorgeous typography, or clever interaction with jQuery, a good background image, etc. Just having GOOD design to look at is key. I think I have about 60 sites in my folder, and when I'm really stuck for ideas I open all of them as tabs in Firefox/Chrome and sift through them one by one. It's amazing how even the slightest thing can spark an amazing idea.
March 31, 201115 yr Web designers can be of great inspiration to each other, either directly or indirectly. Go out and talk to other web designers on IM, in person, on the phone, on social networking websites, etc. Let them know of your designer block - they will probably share similar experiences with you and how they overcame theirs. If you are not feeling so socially inclined you can also go out and look at other website templates for motivation - but be careful, you don't want to rip anybody off. _______________________ Edited April 5, 201115 yr by Wickham
March 31, 201115 yr I agree with what Darell says. talking with other designers helps alot. unfortunately i dont really know loads of people who want to do it full time, and therefore its hard to talk about the techier stuff with them. But with the help from here, and a little reading... im becoming a bit more knowledgeable about what i can do, whats out there and what i can learn. Inspiration wise, I spend alot of time analysing existing websites, good, bad or indifferent. asking all the relevant questions. here are some good inspirations sites: http://www.cssmania.com/ http://www.awwwards.com/ http://www.patterntap.com Edited March 31, 201115 yr by stjohn
