Hi,

I often as a designer get people wanting me to help them with their online portfolios. Now the work is quite tedious if you upload the images one by one in the html and difficult to update.

I have seen many sites lately that use already built image galleries. I have an example of what I am looking for at:

mostrademuntanya.cat and then click the edicions anteriors button in the menu

here you click on an image and you get them in a database driven gallery, where the background goes darker, with forward and previous arrows and a close image button.

How do I do this and link it to my existing images on my website?

Many thanks in advance for your help ;)

That effect is usually referred to as a lightbox, where the image is displayed in front of the website and the website is darker.

If you google jquery lightbox it will give you a couple of examples on how to implement it.

As for the dynamic gallery the way you could do it is through PHP which cycles through each image in a specific folder then displays them on the page, you can then just add the class needed to the image which makes it a lightbox.

I am not a developer, so once I download the package, how am I supposed to use it

and link it to my ordinary html site?

Thanks for your quick reply :)

There are some great step by step guides out there. Google a couple on lightbox. Otherwise send your code and we may be able to help.
