Database Software

Featured Replies

Being relatively new to web design I am looking for a programme that can assist me in putting some very simple databases into a test site.

I would basically like to implement a site search function along with a password protect for certain pages and also an 'interested in' cart such as the one used on this site.

I have recently purchased EashGen 2.4 as it appeared to be suitable for what i required. Unfortunately I have encounter so many problems with EasyGen that I have now asked them for my money back.

Does anyone have any advice on databases in general (IE. where to start) and also in relation to software that could assist me.

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure if you could get a program to do exactly that, but I would suggest trying wordpress and see if one of the thousands of templates would suit your needs.

wordpress will set up the database for you and give you a basic search function which could probably be manipulated to suit.

You will need xampp if you wish to test your site on your own pc before publishing to the web.

If you go this route, there are many knowledgeable members on this forum who can help you if you run into problems.

Good luck

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I already have a wordpress site and I am reasonably familiar with it. What I am looking for is something that would enable me to add the databases that I require to sites that I have already made.

When I read the advert for EasyGen I was happy that this was what I needed however my experience with them has not been very good (issues running their software and not a very helpful customer support department). As a result I am now looking for an alternative that would provide me with the same features/functions.

Regards

Julian
