Hi,

Just a quick question regarding a problem I am having. I am currently hosting a website from a server in my home and I have been using my static IP to access it for some time. The site now has quiet a bit of content and I would like to share it with some other people, however I don´t won´t to have to pass people my static IP.

 

Initially I wanted to use a .co.cc domain name but it does not permit URL forwarding to IP addresses. Is there any other free one´s that I could use to accomplish what I am looking for? Is this a common approach used by people to share a webiste with others?

 

Also another thing. Since I don´t want people to see my IP, is there any way to remove it from the address bar of the client browser? Is URL forwarding only a means of directing the user to the server or is there a method of replacing the IP of the server with another name?

 

By way of example what I mean is the following..

 

An example page on my website: 85.xxx.xxx.26/page2.html

My website name example: www.mynewpage.co.cc

 

When the user arrives at my page, does there exist a method of repalcing the 85.xxx.xxx.26 with another name even though the actual page is on my server with the static IP?
