I redesigned a website and I have a domain (link) which is pointing to a folder on the server with my website in (link). Most of the time it works but sometimes it shows the old website (old design). Why does it do that and how can I stop that?

The domain is registered with 123reg and they give me a few forwarding options:

 

Framed web-forwarding to a single page

 

If you select web-forwarding to a single page the destination URL can have a specific filename on the end (e.g. index.htm).

It could just point to a directory (URL ends with /) in which case the files displayed would depend on the webserver 'directory index' settings.

The destination URL will be replaced by didgetallpaul.co.uk.

 

Non-framed web-forwarding to a single page

 

This option is the same as above however the destination URL will always be displayed in the address bar of the browser.

 

Framed web-forwarding

 

The destination URL will be replaced by didgetallpaul.co.uk

 

Non-framed web-forwarding

 

The destination URL will remain in the browser's address bar.

 

 

I've tried different options but they all have the same problem, plus I don't really know what the best option is for my website?

 

I have another domain registered with 1and1 and never had a problem with forwarding. Would it be worth transferring the domain?

I had this problem and it turned out to be as a simple caching issue. Have you force-refreshed?
