June 30, 201016 yr Hey, I've been away from web development for a couple of years (and wasn't really 'in' it to begin with). It seems that the benchmark for 'good' design has risen considerably in that time so I'd really appreciate any (constructive!) critiscism on my first 'draft' of the site for my free-time micro-business. June 30, 201016 yr The logo is good. The color scheme works. I would do something a little more visually appealing with the navigation. The main issue is you have no sales copy. You need some information about your company and some reasons to buy the product. The arrangement of the product images needs to have a better spacing, and be more professional looking. I think to have an online store you really have to be a perfectionist about your presentation, because if customers don't feel like they are in a professional atmosphere they can get turned off really easily. Maybe with some more work this could be a pretty slick looking store. So, rating it as a first draft I would say it's not bad. Can you give me an opinion about my website? No one has commented on mine, so I would love some feedback on it. portrait site Hey, Thanks for your feedback, like I said the site is intended to be an on-going 'work in progress', the sales copy at the moment only appears when you click on the link, some way of making it appear on mouse-over is the next step I think but I need to look into a way of doing that which won't explode my bandwidth. I'm concerned mainly that the site doesn't look 'clean' enough and is too cluttered, any further comments on this would be appreciated. I had a look at your site (incidently you'll need to put a '.html' at the end of your link as it doesn't work when you click on it currently), I'm not sure it's loading up correctly on my computer though (i'm using IE7) - there are no pictures for example and none of the links work? If you let me know what stage your design is at I'll gladly provide comment (though as my initial post states I'm certainly no expert) Thanks again, Adam.

The plan is to develop each of the pedals with a different graphic theme that will (hopefully) tie into the quirky(?) background imagery. I liked the idea of a different theme for each of the sections and thought the background graphic would be a good place to start with this, though as I mention above I'm concerned that perhaps there's a bit too much going on. I wasn't sure whether I was just noticing it more since using it or whether it was in fact everywhere but I know exactly what you mean. My meagre budget and the limited availability of 'quality' free fonts is a problem, between that and the lack of coherence with the backgrounds however I think there's certainly room to improve with respects to a cohesive 'look'. Web development seems to be one of those things that you need to excel at quite a few things to be good at - programming code, typography, understanding consumer behaviour, understanding 'e-business', the list goes on. I'm only just starting to get back into it but it seems the more I know the more I know I don't. Still, it's good fun though.
