Adsense hits - Am I going wrong?

Featured Replies

I have recently started with google and website design. Could you have a look at my page www.acelogodesign.com. I think it still looks unproffesional although it is better then it was before thanks to some advice. I am not getting many hits - I am going wrong somewhere - not enough content? Or does it just take time to build up hits? Thanks - Jonathan

The big question is: How do you expect people to find you?

Your site may be indexed by Google but remember that people find sites on Google by searching for keywords. So let's look at your homepage:

Title: Home

Navigation: No text, just graphics

Links: page#.html

Content: No keywords

Are you looking for friendly reliable business services? We can provide you help with your business in a number of different ways. Request a free logo or try out out tax calculator to estimate the amount of tax you will be paying this financial year. Explore our site to find out more

If you want people to find your site through Google, you can start by looking at these four areas and adding keywords. So, if you want people to find you for "online accountant" you could do:

Title: Online Accountant in Your Town, UK - Ace Accounting

Navigation: Use CSS text-based buttons, not images. If you must use images, make sure you have specified an "alt" tag with keywords

Links: online-accountant.html, free-logo-design.html, etc.

Content: Use header tags (H1, H2) to accentuate keywords, and make sure to use keywords in your content.

<h1>Online Accountant in Your Town</h1>

Note that this example (which I've just thrown together - you should write your own and put more thought into it than I did :p) uses "online accountant" and "online accounting" keywords prominently, particularly in header tags, and also uses secondary keyword sets like "business tax advice", "online tax calculator" and "UK business accounting." These are terms that potential customers are likely to search for in Google, so you want to make sure your page mentions them.

Even better, make each keyword a link to a separate page describing that service. Google loves content, so the more pages you have on the site (properly written and coded), the better. :D

I hope this information helps. Feel free to PM me or reply with any SEO or content writing-related questions if you get stuck. :)
