Hi. I'm hoping someone will take pity on me and get me started on sorting out how to set up a login system for part of my website. I think I could probably work out how to create a form to get them to select their username and password but how do I then link that to a database and more importantly how do I set up a login page to retrieve/check their username and password and then direct them to the relevant pages. There's probably all sorts of other aspects I haven't thought of, particularly in terms of security of their data and preventing access to the pages without logging in. Ideally I'm looking for some template I can copy/follow or someone willing to be patient and hold me hand, so to speak, through the process. One way or another I need to get this sorted soon.

You could use a CMS such as silverstripe to do something like this.
