What's the usual price range for a site. Pretty vague question I know but I don't really know the criteria.

It does depend on what exactly your requirements are, but generally you can expect prices like these:

 

Static Sites (E.g. No interactivity just a site design and information) £200ish for X number of pages (Varies from company to company but I'd guess around 6)

 

Interactive Sites (E.g. PHP Systems; Booking Systems, Email Systems, Automated Scripts etc. You get the idea - sites that feature applications) will cost considerably more, usually £450/£500 or Possibly £600+

 

E-Commerce Sites run into the thousands. Usually £1200+

 

Generally, for a good quality site you'd want to pay no less than £350.

 

Obviously you understand it's a very vague question, price depends on requirements.

Thanks hat helped a lot. I ask because I usually do websites as a hobby for myself or just doing them free for friends etc, and I was thinking of doing some freelancing.

generally speaking,

static sites around 5 pages (usually incorporating a contact page) from £600+. CMS from around £1-1.5k+. E-commerce generally from £2k+ (depending on level of custom layout).
