Run a PHP automatically?

Featured Replies

My web development journey has just reached a sudden stop.

I've got a PHP script that crunches some numbers and adds a row to a table in a MYSQL database. The problem is, I want this script to run at given intervals without having to call it directly (i.e. If I set it to run every 20 minutes, an hour later there will be 3 new rows in the MYSQL table if I check).

Is there any way to do this? I'm banging my head against a brick wall trying to figure it out.

More than willing to learn a new programming language if that brings me to the solution.

As always, many thanks for your help in advance everyone.

i'm assuming you're on 'nix hosting.

Do you have anything like a control panel on your hosting? They probably have an easy interface for setting up cron jobs and stuff.

Just do a google on using cron to execute a php script, or if you have a specific control panel include that in your search, chances are you'll find the answer :)
