Hi, I'm Gemma, just joined. I live in Scotland and currently studying Dreamweaver and Flash CS4 with HLC.

Has anyone done this course with them? How did they find it? I have done 6units over the last month and they have been good.

Hi Gemma, Welcome to the forum, and good luck on you journey to learning something about webdesign.

BTW just out of curiosity, how much did you or will you have to pay for this 280 hour course? (this one I presume: click)

Hi, thank you :D

I am paying £75 per month all in its £1900, feels like a bit of a rip off now as I was falsly sold it but they are taking the rep's word over mine.

But I am enjoying the course and hoping to continue onto another course to further my education in webdesign.

What do you do? Do you work for yourself or an employer?

Oh I don't work in webdesign, I taught myself html and css because I wanted to make a site fore a few friends of mine and it has gotten a little out of hand after that. I found out that I actually really liked doing it. In daily life I'm a molecular biologist, perhaps if I could do it over I would have done something with webdevelopment or webdesign.

Anyway, I always wondered if those thousands of pounds/euro's costing courses could be any good, or if they still teach you to use frames and table layouts... :) Apart from that I always thought that a webdesign course should teach you webdesign and not the use of a program like Dreamweaver or Expresion web...but that's just me.

oh right cool! Sounds like a fasinating job :D I think I wanna do one thing then do it and dont like it, but I have enjoyed building sites using templates on sites. So I thought I would give it a go. Yea I thought that too, but apparantly, majority of web designers use Dreamweaver and flash etc, but i dont have a clue...I am going to do this course and then look into doing another, I have a 7mth old baby so not rushing to get back to work. Hoping to finish this course within 6mths.

Hi Gem,

Are you within the cancellation cooling off period? i personally didnt find them that good when i signed up for the CompTIA A+ course with them.

If they have misold (mine was too) then i recommend you make a formal complaint, and then if they refuse to do anything, it would be worth involving the office of fair trading.

For the £1700, you can afford to get plenty of good books, and some 1 on 1 tuition from a professional if you would like it. Or you could invest the time into an apprenticeship type deal, which would also see you possibly earning abit of money too.

If you need any help, feel free to ask.
