Game Ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, my company has just started on a small side-line project to develop a new text based internet game. Just something simple and fun for abit of fun for us really! We haven't really concentrated on the game market for awhile now since we abandoned ( "tempoarily suspended" the life game we got half way through developing heh)

Anyway! Any ideas? We're brain storming but thought I might throw it open the community to get an idea of what you might like to see?

If you want, feel free to get a version of promisnace up and running for me ;) I could never get the damn turns to work.

Haha, Something Unique perhaps reaper :p although I'll bare it in mind for sometime when I've got some free time lol :p

There is possibly something like this out there... but a business and investment game?

So you build up a business and increase revenue by recruiting, purchasing assets, creating marketing campaigns, securing investments and selling. for example, the companies would all sell products/services to other companies. Say you started a car dealership and a courier company needed 50 vans, this would increase the value of your company for making the sales and the courier company's value would also increase on assets.

Not only would it be pretty fun and addictive but it could also be educational (depending on how realistic you make it!)

I like Shauns idea, although you need to have an option to hire a hitman to take out your rival companies staff.

I quite like that idea, and I had a thought along the same lines.

Thanks Shaun! I might push through with that.

No worries. I was kind of hoping you would turn around and say, "That already exists! It's..." lol

ah like lemonade tycoon? Will it be multiplayer?

Elaborate!

well you start off with a lemonade stand and you have to find the perfect recipe for the lemonade, and buy the ingredients and find the best location and hire staff. its simple little game but fun. Free on iPhone if u have one, if not you can play it online somewhere for free but I cant find it at the moment.

Sounds good. I'd rather just start with some capital and bypass the lemonade stand lol. Perhaps a game where the user starts with £2000? And then can put real money into it. i.e. £5 = an additional £500 or something.

We've decided to go through with your idea Shaun! It's just a small time game but we're going to make it fun!

We expect we'll have a basic demo working in maybe a week or so's time so if you fancy taking a peek then you're more than welcome.

Brilliant, I'd be more than happy to be a Beta tester. If it gets big, you're going to have to credit me somewhere lol. Perhaps make me the Trump of the game and let me start with £1m??

haha, yeah whatever if you like! :D

This is our basic plan:

> You register a free account.

> You register/incorporate a virtual company.

There are a few types of company you can set up: Pharamcuitical/Drug & Chemical, Banking/Financial, Airline, Clothing Chain, Telecomms, Mining Ect.

You give it a name, slogan, stock ticker ect.

> You're automatically appointed as it's Chairman but you can choose whether you want to take on any of the 5 of the other top jobs on the board (CEO, COO, CFO, MD Ect.) or whether they should be automatically appointed to NPC's.

> You buy items (such as chemicals, cables, materials ect.) and can you use them to produce goods, hence making a profit, then in turn Boosting up the companies share price ect. If you don't produce the quota set by the game, your share price drops. Which would create a similar to real world environment if people have bought the virtual currency, since in effect they would of lost money.

> Other game players can buy shares in your company. (to make it competitive, if someone has more shares than the chairman, they can try and take over) - which also again creates a real world environment if your share price drops quite low and some one can easily take over because it's not a valuable company, players have lost money and they can easily buy shares, which they can then use to take over.

> companies can recruit NPC staff so you produce more goods quicker. But they're costly!

> Also some sort of "luck card" or (to use monopoly as an example) a chance card or something along those lines that result in some sort of either benefit or loss.

I've taken the p*** abit because i've given the random NPC's funny names. So don't be surprised if you see Mrs. Thatcher or Mr. Major on your board!

Ha, anyway, so what do you think?

Sounds good, I like the idea of incorporating a type of stock market. Will the businesses have a liability option? i.e. ltd or plc etc?

  • Author

We are intending all the virtual corps' will be PLC's.

Since it's Stock Market environment a LTD might be abit non-fitting.

Besides, a PLC has the multiplayer rush that an LTD wouldn't if you understand me.

That's a shame, It would be nice to be able to choose your investors.

It might be worth us noting. I'm not too sure though.

I checked out this thread a little while ago and thought that Shauns idea sounded quite good. If you need any testers when you get the game done i would be more than happy to help.

ihave aconcept for a game

its somewhat a fishfood type but its far more better

its kinda like a life of a fish..

starting out as a small fish then its growing bigger

at every stages , u have a option to become a turtle ,stingray, a seal, or anything

moving stages is a battle of survival, whereiin ur faced with alot of enemys or predators, alot of traps, those usual things

but the cool thing about this is , there is part of the stage wherein ul find a mate,ul bear some youngs, and then u have to take them with u in every stages.u have to protect them nourish them, and there is like life indicators for ur children and u need to always monitor them or theyll die..its like u have ur kids and ur wife to protect against the whole sealife..

survival of the fittest and protecting what u love the best.

in every stages survived, ul have food to feed to ur children and then there is a nice background music same with free willy type orchestra, that somewhat cherish the moment type.u know what i mean..eheheh

hope this concept will come to fruition

for questions, and the incentives that ul be giving me, let me know. cyrusbelches@yahoo.com
