I'm building (or have been building for the past 3 years, or will be building, or possibly have built in some alternate universe) a templating engine for CodeIgniter and am trying to nail down the "features" it requires to be a viable system...

 

So, what do you feel a templating system needs for you to use it, and is there anything you want to see but havent found?

should easily be modifiable (spelling?)? e.g. wordpress for example. 4 main pages, index.php, sidebar.php, footer.php and header.php, that makes up the page
