May 21, 200917 yr Hi, almost finished my new website... Virtual Element Please give me some feedback, constructive criticsm only! Thanks
May 21, 200917 yr I'll start from the top and work my way down... The flashy logo doesn't appear to be a whole logo, it looks more like text, with a random image looking a bit like the Windows logo stuck on. The text on the right of the logo isn't that clear and would probably look neater as a web font in a slightly smaller size. The menu would look better if the items were spaced out more, but then you'd lose the login box. May I suggest moving the login to the top-right, where the text currently is, and then you could have a menu with better spacing. If the Game, Web Hosting and Teamspeak were all the same style, with the Info|Buy options all bottom-aligned then that bit would look a bit better. The next row of images is wasting too much space and is just obstructing the user from reaching the news and information (which is probably more important). Would be better off positioned after the content, and please make that Server Status image still! The latest news and block besides it don't look too bad. Just remember to change it from Latest to Latest The use of mixed fonts is pretty bad, try to stick to just one font for your website including navigation, news and the footer. I think you've got all the elements there and each on their own probably wouldn't look too bad, but when pieced together to make a page, you need them to flow and create a smooth look overall.
May 21, 200917 yr Author Thanks for your constructive reply, ill answer each of your answers individually. The header image i will definitely redesign, as i can see your point there. I want something more relevant to the sites name Element isnt an easy one for me though so if you have any ideas.... The login box needs a new home and top right would suit it perfect. Great idea. If the Game, Web Hosting and Teamspeak were all the same style, with the Info|Buy options all bottom-aligned then that bit would look a bit better. I didnt want a completely symmetrical menu there as i wanted each section to be somewhat individual (hence the different coloured background on the TS) The "next row" was created to create more room lol ill look into redesigning it. LOL @ Latest. Im not responsible for that there are other admins. Hmm fonts are pretty bad, i was thinking of going for Verdana throughout. Thanks ill have a play and see what i can come up with. ill probably post back here when im done and you can comment again. P.S just looked at your site ..... Good Job!!
May 22, 200917 yr I don't like any of it, especially when you say it's for gaming. Hosts that offer gaming packages look VERY gaming, like e-frag.co.uk, ukgame.com
May 22, 200917 yr Author Thats not constructive criticsm Mr Bishop........... Its hosting for websites, gaming servers and communication (teamspeak etc). Posting your opinion without reason is damn right rude. But thanks anyway LOL Heres 5 words for you.... "required attribute alt not found"
May 22, 200917 yr Im not a big fan either Im afraid. The fonts - which was mentioned above - are a bit all over the place. Just a personal preference but I never like the use of Times New Roman on a site. Also, the div which contains the 'Latest News' header at the bottom (class="title") has too much padding-left. Try giving it a value of 5px instead.
May 22, 200917 yr I am not often a fan of serif fonts and prefer arial or verdana but if you want to use a browser-friendly serif font try georgia.
May 23, 200917 yr Author I was thinking of verdana throughout as its a nice clean font and goes well with this sort of site. Georgia is a great font imo A lot of the images use different fonts and i think this is best. Thanks for your feedback
