May 18, 200917 yr I've just logged into my account at cushyCMS and when typing my email address into the login box it appeared as weird characters and then once logged in I noticed all the headings were messed up as well. How do I fix this?
May 18, 200917 yr Author I just tried to add a site and can't as it's just like typing gobbledeegook - I don't know what is causing this!
May 18, 200917 yr The cushyCMS page uses: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en"> and: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> so I don't think it's a character encoding issue on their part. Which means the problem could be at browser-level or even OS-level. If you have font management software installed, it could be that a particular font is deactivated and is being substituted for another by the software. (I have experience of this on macs only.) Or it could be a system font that is corrupted or has been deleted and the OS is substituting another. My reply is vague, but I hope it helps!
May 18, 200917 yr Author I've not got any font management software installed. I'm using a PC running windows XP and using the latest Firefox browser.
May 18, 200917 yr Author just tried the site in internet explorer and it looks fine in that - so it must be something to do with firefox...
May 18, 200917 yr Author If I set the font option in firefox to dissallow websites to choose their own fonts - the page displays fine in my chosen font and the titles show up ok. I don't particularly want to use this setting so if anyone else knows of a solution that'd be great, but in the meantime this is a good temporary fix.
May 18, 200917 yr Author oops - I posted at the same time as you...I tried changing the character encoding within the tools > options menu and used a few different ones and it made no difference. I didn't realise there was a character encoding menu under view - I'll give that a go. Cheers.
May 18, 200917 yr Author I tried all the western encodings and none of them make any difference. I tried universal and abunch of others and none of them work. Weird, very weird.
May 18, 200917 yr Author I think it must be something to do with the font replacement script they're using... sIFR Lite Automagically replaces text with fancy flash fonts http://www.allcrunchy.com/Web_Stuff/sIFR_lite/ so going to look into that.
