Trouble with positioning

I'm trying to do a layout for my site. Now I have a problem with image layout. I'm trying to put the image of the building to the right of the text but for some reason it is only sitting below the text rather than at the side. Also, as soon I try to float something, the sticky footer stops working properly. Any content I float, is ignored by the footer which has the effect of the footer going underneath the content.

Any help would be appreciated :)

I've managed to get the image lined up properly now.

I've tried the two methods in the link you posted and it works fine on Firefox and IE but on Opera and Chrome, the footer still slides under some of the content. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply also, it's appreciated :)
