How do I do those vertical lines like in this example, the symbol is on my keyboad but I dont knwo the button combination to do it...?

Strange the ones on my Microsoft keyboard are reversed. I have the | above the tab key and the ¦ left of the Z. This is what has been annoying me for ages trying to figure it out today...
