March 15, 200917 yr If you got a project and planning to design your own CMS, How long does it take for you to design? Does it take one month ,two months, or one year? I'm having a project and planning to design my own CMS. My client is asking, "how many months you can design an own CMS?" I dont know what to answer, i have no idea how long. Now I know how hard it is but they are asking me how many months they will wait. Please help me, give me idea on how usually they need to wait. ?
March 15, 200917 yr Depends on the functionality, are you building the cms from scratch, or using a cms package? How extensive is your knowledge etc. Many of the cms's available have been going for years, with new functionality adding constantly, but for a core package, done with long term production in mind, i would say more than a few months.
March 15, 200917 yr It depends on too many things. What experience do you have? Will you be coding it all yourself? What functionality is required. I think for example with my limited php/mysql knowledge I could build a pretty simple CMS in about 6 weeks working 40+ hours a week. How long is a peice of string?
