March 14, 200917 yr Bandwidth is a measure of maximum data transfer per month. (If we're talking web hosting here). It's basically a law dictating how much data can go through your site per month. So you know how much you need depending on how busy or how high profile your site will be. For example; A Video Sharing site needs a huge quantity of available bandwidth because videos are often high in MB or even in GB in size. Meaning that it'll be a drain on your bandwidth to show the video to the site visitor when it loads.
March 14, 200917 yr Assuming 1 page total size = 2kb: 10 page views = 20kb bandwidth used 100 page views = 200kb bandwidth used etc etc. Work out how much (approx) your page sizes are, how many times you think they're gonna be visited/viewed each month. This will give you an approximate minimum bandwidth amount. Then add at least 15%
March 14, 200917 yr Author Sorry yeah it is for web hosting. Its a smallish site - 10pages max. -One page will have a photo gallery, -One page will have a music video and a few mp3 song files. Thanks for clearing everything up guys!
March 14, 200917 yr For a site like that, you'll probably be fine with <5GB (unless you get really popular!).
