Solutions

  1. nicolasks's post in Media query not working with Safari was marked as the answer   
    Someone let me know that in Safari the media query doesn't kick in until you refresh the page. So, if someone navigates to the web page while using a high zoom, the media query works -- it's only when you've already loaded the page and then you zoom in that it doesn't work (and only in Safari).
